Canucks’ Goaltenders Get New Italian Names

Canucks’ goaltenders Curtis Sanford and Corey Schneider have decided to change their names in hope it will help to improve their play. Curtis Sanford is now legally “Curitso Sanfordo” and Corey Schneider is now legally “Coreyo Schneidero.”
Their new names were inspired by Canucks’ all-star goaltender Roberto Luongo’s name, who is from Italian heritage.
The name change comes after lackluster performances by both goaltenders since Roberto Luongo went down with a groin injury against the Penguins on November 22nd. The Canucks, who have fallen into a mini-slump, depend heavily on their goaltending and need Sanford and Schneider to be at their best.
“We tried everything,” said Sanfordo, as he sipped a double-espresso. “We practiced, trained and studied twice as hard, but still our goaltending skills just didn’t measure up to Luongo’s.”
“Then we heard a fan scream at us from the stands that we should change our names to sound more like Luongo. The fan was pretty drunk, but I think he was on to something.”
Following the fan’s suggestion, Sanford and Schneider both immediately applied for name changes and both decided to go with the ‘Italian’ theme.
“It’s pretty obvious why Luongo’s such a great goaltender,” said Schneidero as he was riding around on his new Vespa. “It’s because he has a great name. I can’t wait till they start chanting ‘Bingo Bango Coreyo Schneidero!”
The ‘new and improved’ goaltenders will test their new names on Saturday when they travel to Edmonton to play the Oilers.
I already got my Schneidero Jersey, thanks for the scoop, come game time I’ll be the only one at GM place with that jersey!
