Canucks Help Iginla Battle Smile-itis

The Vancouver Canucks beat the Calgary Flames 6-0 last night in the opening game of the season for both teams.
While the blowout was a complete wash for the Flames and all of their fans, there was a silver lining for Jarome Iginla’s public battle with smile-itis. Following the loss, for the first time in years Iginla was able to crack a frown in the post-game interviews.
“It feels strange,” said Iginla, the captain of the Flames. “I’ve been smiling for so long that I forgot how it feels to frown, to show my true emotions. Having the Canucks destroy our team tonight brought me one step closer to the road to recovery.”
Doctors working with Iginla are thankful for teams like the Canucks for doing their part in helping Iginla recover. “Getting annihilated like this on national television is definitely good medicine for smile-itis,” said Dr. Gerry Davis of the University of Vancouver Hospital. “The way the Flames look this year we are confident that they will lose badly several more times this year, which means there is a strong chance Iginla will recover from smile-itis by the end of the season.”
Unfortunately the lapse was only temporary as Iginla was seen leaving the dressing room with a grin from ear to ear.
