Liam Quits Oasis, Joins Oasis Cover Band
October 6, 2008 by Matthew Mcgarnickle
Liam Gallagher, leader singer for the band Oasis, has just announced that he will be quitting Oasis and joining the Oasis cover band ‘Noasis.’
“I’m tired of playing new material at concerts,” said Liam, who created the band with his brother Noel in 1991. “I just want to sing the hits like Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova over and over again, and Noasis will let me do that. D’youknowwhattamean?”
Liam’s decision to leave the band comes on the eve of the release of their 7th studio album, Dig Out Your Soul. Oasis was also on tour this past summer across North America in support of the new record and the response was mixed. At a concert in Toronto, a fan was so tired of waiting for them to play Wonderwall that he charged the stage and attacked Noel. Footage of the attack can be found here (1:30 mark).
Not surprisingly, fans are very dissapointed about the news. Henry Charles, a long-time fan of the band, enjoyed having Liam sing the new material for health reasons. “I really loved it when Oasis played new stuff cause it gave me a chance to go to the washroom. If they only played their old songs, I could get a serious bladder infection.”
Although Noel hasn’t formally responded to Liam’s announcement, there are rumors that he will also be leaving Oasis to form his own cover band called “NOel New Stuff.”
